Academy Award Nominee, Robert Dalva (A.C.E.) will be joining us for a discussion of his professional career and his ideas/philosophies of editing. Robert was nominated for an Academy Award in Editing for his work on The Black Stallion in 1979. He worked for a number of years with Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas at Zoetrope. In addition to his work as editor for The Black Stallion, Robert's body of work includes Hidalgo; The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio; Jurassic Park III; October Sky; Jumanji and many other feature films and TV Series. He is currently cutting Winston, a new feature, on an Avid system.

Steve Chazin, Director of Product Marketing for Education, Avid Technology - will present what’s new at Avid and little about what he does there and get some feedback on some “ideas” that he is working on. Steve Chazin will raffle off a copy of Avid's Media Composer software valued at $4,995.00.

7:00 pm – 8:00 pm | The Avid/Pro Tools Interface – A Users Perspective

John McKay, CEO and founder of the audio editing software company Virtual Katy will discuss the new workflows and changing technologies using real-world case studies from the 30-second spot to the 2.5 hour feature film. Example case studies include: Lord of The Rings, SouthPark, and various commercial productions. John has had a wide and varied career in feature films and television. He was the senior sound editor for "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. John has been managing postproduction audio teams producing soundtracks to tight and demanding deadlines for over 20 years. He is an experienced Pro Tools User with many tales from the battle scarred rooms of post production.

8:00 - 9:00 | Bob Donlon

Bob Donlon of Adobe Systems will show the powerful After Effects software application and how to effectively interact with your Avid System. Donlon is an award-winning editor, animator, and musician now working on the digital video team at Adobe Systems. A native of Manhattan, his credits include work on "Beavis and Butthead" and "Late Night with Conan O’Brien". Donlon is the author of several books on video and film production, and has served as moderator for user forums for editors and motion graphics designers.
